Upside Down Apple Pies (Butter Version)
I discovered this butter version after sharing the video on IG. I prefer the butter over the maple syrup because the pies are more buttery instead of sticky sweet. My kids liked both versions (of course)!
Ingredients
-
3 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced thin)
-
1 puff pastry sheet (thawed)
-
3 tbsp butter (melted)
-
3 tbsp brown sugar
-
1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tbsp sliced almonds
Steps
-
Toss apple slices with 2 tbsp brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.
-
On a parchment lined baking sheet, brush butter where the pies will lay. Then add brown sugar, cinnamon and almonds followed by the apples.
-
Cut puff pastry into 6 squares and place one over each apple pile, tucking in edges.
-
Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and puffed.
-
Let cool slightly, then flip upside down so apples sit on top.
- Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
