Upside Down Apple Pies (Butter Version)

I discovered this butter version after sharing the video on IG. I prefer the butter over the maple syrup because the pies are more buttery instead of sticky sweet. My kids liked both versions (of course)!

Ingredients

  • 3 apples (peeled, cored, and sliced thin)

  • 1 puff pastry sheet (thawed)

  • 3 tbsp butter (melted)

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 2 tbsp sliced almonds

Steps

  1. Toss apple slices with 2 tbsp brown sugar, and 1/2 tsp cinnamon.

  2. On a parchment lined baking sheet, brush butter where the pies will lay. Then add brown sugar, cinnamon and almonds followed by the apples.

  3. Cut puff pastry into 6 squares and place one over each apple pile, tucking in edges.

  4. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden and puffed.

  5. Let cool slightly, then flip upside down so apples sit on top.

  6. Enjoy with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!
